Today, I want to talk about the easiest way to add production value to your show: MUSIC!
Music sustains. It fills gaps. It allows pauses to be pregnant instead of stagnant. Well-crafted music in a performance can literally create, hold, and maintain suspense that can drive the train out of the station and give it the gas it needs to reach the destination.
By choosing to add music to your act, you are telling the audience something about your character. By adding music, you are revealing to the audience information about who you are, what you like, what makes you happy. You are subconsciously telling them that you care about them and their experience, simply by sharing these tunes.
In this week’s video, I give you a few pointers about how to make the tough decisions, where to begin to place the music, and by brief demonstration, show you the difference between using music and not!
